Department of Public Works

The Goal of the Divisions within the Department of Public Works is to provide quality service to the Community and to enhance the Public's quality of life by protecting their investment in the County's:

  • 20-mile network of underground facilities
  • 1,672 miles of roadway
  • 265 bridges
  • 364 minor structures
  • 5 solid waste facilities
  • 216 miles of project levees
  • 107 miles of channels
  • 100 special districts which provide water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and street lighting services

The County values your comments and feedback, and requests you take a few minutes to complete the brief survey.
Survey - West Grant Line/Byron Road North of Tracy Roundabout

It’s been 4 months since the County installed the temporary roundabout at the intersection of West Grant Line and Byron Roads. County staff received many “thumbs up” gestures during observational site visits. Commuters making the left turn onto Grant Line Road seemed particularly appreciative as it provides them a safer maneuver.
Since installation, flashing beacons and street lights have been added to further enhance driver awareness and visibility. As the County plans to hold another public forum in the late March/early April time frame to discuss next steps, the County would like to hear from constituents on how the roundabout may be improved.
