Residential Relief : Free Disposal Voucher 
7/18/2025: San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors has voted to approve free disposal vouchers to provide relief for impacted residents.  Please click link to print and prepare a copy of the voucher to present to scale house cashiers at county refuse disposal facilities: Free Disposal Voucher - Labor Dispute.
Service Alert:  Area C Garbage Service Interruption
7/11/2025: Republic Services (Republic) has notified San Joaquin County that a labor strike is impacting residential trash collection within the County’s Refuse Service Area C (residential-refuse-collectionservice-map.pdf). 
The Public Works Department knows how important reliable service is and is communicating regularly with Republic for updates. Republic is also reaching out to customers directly via email and/or phone. 
Republic is responsible for providing collection services and addressing questions and issues related to charges and billing. Republic‘s contact number for customers is (209) 466-3808, and their online website address is https://www.republicservices.com/. Please be aware that due to the large number of affected customers, call wait times will likely be longer than usual. 
Thank you for your patience and understanding as this situation unfolds. We’ll share more info as it becomes available.

NOTICE: Effective 5/13/2020, the Lovelace Materials Recycling Facility and Transfer Station, the North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill, and the Household Hazardous Waste Facility are open to the public, resuming normal business hours.

Customers are strongly encouraged to wear facial coverings and gloves when visiting sites.

Credit and debit cards (with ID), and business checks only will be accepted - NO CASH transactions.

Please expect longer wait times at County solid waste facilities due to required social distancing and Health Orders. 

Dumping on private or public areas is illegal and punishable by fines and jail time.  Report illegal dumping to (209) 468-4400.

Solid Waste is a division of the Public Works Department of San Joaquin County. The division oversees the operations of several solid waste facilities and sanitary landfills, administers state mandated waste diversion programs, and provides and arranges for a wide range of services and outreach to the general public so as to conserve resources, and preserve public health and safety and the environment.

Public Services include: mandatory residential refuse collection and commercial recycling; a variety of landfill diversion programs for Agricultural Plastics, Tires, Oil, Sharps, Medicines, Mattresses, Appliances, Construction and Demolition Debris, Organics, and countless other products; and education and outreach to the general public on how to properly dispose or recycle any given material.

Facilities include County owned and operated  Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station, and North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill, as well as publicly owned but privately operated Foothill Sanitary Landfill and  Household Hazardous Waste Facility. The division also maintains the closed landfill facilities at Corral Hollow and Harney Lane. The active facilities are key locations in a network that reaches every County resident and business to dispose of nearly all man-made products that are unable to be recycled or diverted.
