The Field Engineering Division provides contract administration and inspection services for construction activities to ensure conformance with approved plans, specifications and County standards.
Activities requiring inspection and/or monitoring involve permit work, grant projects, Special District projects, projects by other County Departments and public agencies, County road and bridge projects, and improvements constructed by the private sector which will eventually be operated and maintained by the county.
In addition, upon referral, this Division reviews development and improvement plans for subdivision and encroachment permits, as well as plans for outside agency projects affecting County facilities and interests. The Division also provides consultation and coordination with public and private sector engineers, contractors, developers and the general public regarding Public Works construction practices and procedures.
Other special services provided by the division include the design and coordination of various emergency repairs; specialty projects; field surveying; utility coordination; aerial photography; and materials laboratory services.
