FIELD ENGINEERING UNIT


The Field Engineering Division proudly conducts contract administration and inspection services for a wide range of construction activities, ensuring adherence to approved project plans, specifications, and applicable standards. The Division’s mission is to uphold the highest standards of public infrastructure quality through diligent oversight while prioritizing public safety, convenience, and exceptional customer service.

Inspection/monitoring services encompass:

  • County public contract projects
  • Encroachment permit work
  • Grant projects
  • Special District projects
  • Job Order Contract projects
  • Private sector projects slated for County operation and maintenance

Additionally, the team collaborates with public and private sector engineers, contractors, developers, and the general public. This collaboration fosters excellence in Public Works construction practices and procedures.

Special services provided by the Field Engineering Division include:

  • Surveying (e.g., topographic, right-of-way)
  • Utility coordination for Department-led projects
  • Project material sampling and testing services through a third-party managed by Field Engineering
  • Constructability reviews upon request

  • Administer construction contracts, including inspection/monitoring of construction activities
  • Inspect encroachment permit work and future public improvements
  • Provide surveying services (e.g., topographic, right-of-way)
  • Review development and improvement plans for subdivision and encroachment permits
  • Consult and coordinate with public and private entities regarding Public Works construction practices and procedures
  • Coordinate, as appropriate, various emergency repairs, special projects, field surveys, utility relocations, aerial photography and materials laboratory services
