The Surveyor Unit reviews all County Final Maps, City Final Maps for the Cities of Stockton, Manteca, Lodi and Ripon, Records of Survey, Corner Records, Certificates of Correction, County Parcel Maps,  and Parcel Maps for the Cities of Manteca and Ripon to ensure compliance with State and local Ordinances, as applicable. Additional functions include preparing legal descriptions and the related maps for road and easement abandonments, land acquisitions, and the disposition of excess lands.

The Unit is also involved with the preparation, review, and maintenance of legal descriptions and records related to over 200 agencies and districts, including Sanitary, Maintenance, School, Lighting, Reclamation, Flood Control, Water, and Irrigation Districts. The Surveyor Unit assists the public in addressing inquiries regarding property lines, rights-of-way and easements.
