    San Joaquin County Provides an Update on Labor Negotiations with the California Nurses Association

    Stockton, CA – On January 7, 2025 the California Nurses Association (CNA) issued the County a Notice of Intent to Strike on January 17, 2025. CNA represents approximately 888 registered nurse employees who work at San Joaquin General Hospital, Public Health Services, Correctional Health Services, Behavioral Health Services, Emergency Medical Services, and SJ Health Clinics.

    Dhaliwal will serve as Vice-Chair

    Stockton, CA – The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors has chosen Supervisor Paul J. Canepa as Chair as part of its annual reorganizational meeting held this morning. Canepa represents a large portion of central Stockton in his role as the second district Supervisor. He is currently in his first term on the Board, having been elected in 2022. Supervisor Sonny Dhaliwal, the third district representative, was chosen as Vice-Chair as well; Dhaliwal was sworn in as Supervisor in this morning’s meeting.

    Board Secures Lower Garbage Rates for Stockton Area Consumers
    Improved services and lower rates come after competitive selection process

    Stockton, CA – In an effort to reduce costs and improve services, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors awarded a contract to USA Waste of California for trash collection in unincorporated County areas near Stockton, known as “Refuse Service Area C.” The new rates represent up to 45% savings for residents with the largest refuse carts and will go into effect on January 1, 2026, when the current contract is complete.
