(Stockton, CA) – San Joaquin County will be presenting proposed State maps and a narrative to the California Citizen’s Redistricting Commission (CRC) on Friday, October 22, 2021. This presentation will provide the County Board of Supervisor’s approved maps for Congressional, Assembly and Senate district proposed maps for the 2021 redistricting process. The CRC is holding three days of public comment which include presentations on maps between October 21 and October 23 in anticipation of their first draft maps being released on November 15, 2021.
San Joaquin County developed the map and narrative after a significant stakeholder and outreach process which included the creation of an Advisory Group, three public stakeholder outreach meetings, an online survey, and a phone survey. The result of these efforts were as follows:
Supervisor Tom Patti, Chairman of the San Joaquin Board of Supervisors stated, “After a dedicated effort by the County and our partners, we are pleased to submit this presentation to the CRC which achieves the goal that we have heard from many residents of San Joaquin County – that the districts be drawn to represent primarily San Joaquin County residents.”
To see the proposed maps and narrative, the results of the online survey and the phone survey, please see our State redistricting website at https://sjgov.org/stateredistricting.
