Department of Public Works

The goal of the Department of Public Works is to provide quality service to the community and to enhance the public's quality of life by protecting their investment in the County's:

  • 20-mile network of underground facilities
  • 1,672 miles of roadway
  • 265 bridges
  • 364 minor structures
  • 5 solid waste facilities
  • 216 miles of project levees
  • 107 miles of channels
  • Over 100 special districts which provide water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and/or street lighting services

Effective December 21, 2020, immediate walk-in counter services will be temporarily replaced by appointments-only. It is anticipated this will be in place through the end of the year while our region is under the Regional Stay at Home Order (RSHO). It may be longer if the RSHO is extended.
