    Board Secures Lower Garbage Rates for Stockton Area Consumers
    Improved services and lower rates come after competitive selection process

    Stockton, CA – In an effort to reduce costs and improve services, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors awarded a contract to USA Waste of California for trash collection in unincorporated County areas near Stockton, known as “Refuse Service Area C.” The new rates represent up to 45% savings for residents with the largest refuse carts and will go into effect on January 1, 2026, when the current contract is complete.

    Board Supports Local Small Businesses
    Additional grant funds for small businesses available

    Stockton, CA - At its meeting on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors authorized an additional $250,000 from the Employment and Economic Development Department's (EEDD) Small Business Assistance Grant Program (SBAG) to fund the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce's security camera program. The grant is part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and must be used to respond to the negative impacts of the public health emergency (COVID- 19) including aid to impacted industries.

    Stockton, CA - Today, the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters (ROV) office officially certified the November 5, 2024, Presidential General Election results. The final turnout for this election totaled 267,627 ballots cast, representing 70.7 percent of the 378,657 registered voters in San Joaquin County.

    On November 12, 2024 the Board of Supervisors approved a Notice of Intent to purchase the Oakmoore Golf Course located on Wilson Way on unincorporated County land within the City of Stockton. Because the County is in the due diligence phase of this process, no further comments will be made unless the purchase is completed.
