Board of Supervisors
Paul Canepa and Steven J. Ding Sworn in as new San Joaquin County Supervisors;
December 30, 2022

(STOCKTON, CA) – On Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 10 a.m., the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors will swear in Paul Canepa from District 2 and Steven J. Ding from District 4 during the first Board of Supervisors meeting of 2023.

In addition, Supervisor Rickman is slated to be elected Chair of the Board with Supervisor Villapudua as Vice-Chair.

Supervisor Canepa will replace Supervisor Kathy Miller who was termed out in 2022. Before his election as a San Joaquin County Supervisor, Canepa served as a member of the Stockton City Council and was previously a member of the Lincoln Unified School Board.

Supervisor Ding will replace Supervisor Chuck Winn who was also termed out in 2022. Ding is a small business owner of Woodbridge Crossing Restaurant and prior to his election to the Board of Supervisors was previously Chief of Staff to U.S. Representative Richard Pombo, who served as Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee.

In addition to the swearing in of the Board of Supervisors’, Steve J. Bestolarides will be sworn in as Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk, Jeffery Woltkamp will be sworn in as Auditor-Controller and Phonxay Keokham will be sworn in as Treasurer-Tax Collector.

Chairman-elect Rickman commented on the upcoming year stating, "I look forward to working collaboratively with my new colleagues on the Board in continuing to make San Joaquin County a desirable place to live, work, play, and raise a family."
