Board Approves Supervisor Rickman’s Proposal to Provide $4,700 From Supervisorial District 5 Funds to Gather Around Main for Community Event Costs
June 17, 2025

STOCKTON – At its Board meeting on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved Supervisor Rickman’s proposal to provide $4,700 to Gather Around Main to cover costs of their new community events, ‘Concert in the Park Series’.

Gather Around Main, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening community bonds in Escalon, is launching a new initiative, Concert in the Park Series. The proposed Concert in the Park Series will run from June through September 2025 and will feature live music, family-friendly programming, and complimentary ice cream to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees. These concerts will not only foster community unity but also bring positive visibility and

economic foot traffic to Escalon’s downtown and local ‘Main Street’ businesses.

The one-time funds will be used strictly to help cover the costs of complimentary ice cream – ice cream vendor – available to attending families as a small gesture for joining the community, creating memorable summer nights for Escalon residents.

“Escalon is a wonderful community, and it is a pleasure to support this effort that aims to inspire community unity and wellness, and spur economic activity and growth by drawing residents to the downtown business district area,” said Fifth District Supervisor Robert Rickman.

The Supervisorial District Funds were re-established by the Board of Supervisors in the 2023-2024 Adopted Budget, to afford each supervisor the opportunity to address district-specific unmet needs. Supervisorial district-funded projects are subject to existing County policy and business practice.
