Stockton, CA – San Joaquin County is proactively reaching out to the community for valuable input as it embarks on the creation of a five-year Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) to be submitted to the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (USEDA).
"The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is a transformative initiative for regional collaboration," said Patty Virgen, Executive Director of the Employment and Economic Development Department. "CEDS is more than just a plan; it's a platform for bringing our community together to have meaningful discussions about our economic future. Through collaboration, we can effectively tackle our challenges, highlight new opportunities, and drive our county towards greater success.”
The CEDS is focused on cultivating an environment that supports a sustainable economic future for the County’s businesses and residents. The five-year plan will help guide investment decisions on infrastructure, public works, industrial and commercial site development, and job-creating initiatives and build a blueprint for regional collaboration and economic development.
As a first step in the CEDS process, San Joaquin County is seeking input from businesses and residents. Local feedback is sought to ensure the new plan represents the values and priorities of the community. The information provided within the surveys is confidential and critical to helping County officials understand what community-members need in terms of economic prosperity. Two surveys—one for residents and one for businesses— are being distributed countywide where individuals can provide input on living and doing business in San Joaquin County. Completed surveys are due by July 31, 2024.
