Office of Emergency Services
Evacuation Center Relocation
March 30, 2023

What:
The San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will relocate the Emergency Evacuation Center from the Manteca Senior Center (295 Cherry Ln., Manteca) to the Stockton Fairgrounds (1658 S. Airport Way, Stockton).

When:
Effective Friday, March 31, 2023 for the foreseeable future

Where:
San Joaquin County Fairgrounds
1658 S. Airport Way, Building #1
Stockton, California 95206

Why:
The Manteca Senior Center’s maximum capacity was limited to 60 residents impacted by the evacuation orders. As high-water levels continue, the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services Advanced Planning unit determined additional shelter locations with larger capacities would be required in the event of additional evacuation orders as a result of the flooding.

Background:
The San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services, local and State agencies, and reclamation districts continue to monitor the levees and river totals. At this time, evacuation orders and warnings have not changed. The areas currently impacted by evacuation orders are Airport Court and Haven Acres Mobile Home Park. The evacuation warning at Turtle Beach remains in effect. Sandbags are available throughout the County. Up to date information on road closures, how and where to report flooding and downed trees, additional resources, and evacuation orders can be found at SJReady.org. San Joaquin County residents may also text “SJStorms” to 888777 for updates. To access real-time evacuation notices, click on the Perimeter public map at: https://app.perimeterplatform.com/incidents/polygon/2294. No sign-up or download is required. This website is only updated during emergency events, such as flooding, earthquakes, etc.

“Thank you to Manteca Senior Center for opening their location to evacuees during the first evacuation warning and orders. Our County Office of Emergency Services looks forward to the partnership with Stockton Fairgrounds to ensure a long-term solution for evacuees impacted by the hazardously high-water levels from the San Joaquin River,” said San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services Director, Tiffany Heyer.
