(STOCKTON) - The San Joaquin County Department of Public Works announced today that it will fully reopen public self-haul operating days at the North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill in Lodi beginning Saturday, July 30, 2022.
Public Works implemented a temporary closure of public self-haul services on Saturdays and Sundays at the North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill that took effect on July 16, 2022. Customer and employee safety, together with requirements for regulatory compliance, were the primary factors in the decision.
“The recent closure has provided the Solid Waste team the opportunity to secure temporary staffing from other Public Works divisions as well as intensively train contract employees in proper safety protocols and load checking at the County’s Lovelace Transfer Station,” said Fritz Buchman, San Joaquin County Public Works Director. “These efforts have resulted in the ability to restore normal weekend self-haul services much sooner than originally anticipated. I am pleased to report that beginning July 30th, North County will reopen its self-haul services to the public on Saturdays and Sundays.”
Buchman also emphasized that the County will continue making concentrated efforts to recruit qualified workers to fill open positions. Qualified candidates interested in applying for open positions can visit: County job opening.
