San Joaquin County Celebrates Airpark 599 Groundbreaking
November 9, 2021

(Stockton, CA) - Members of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors along with national developer, Catellus, broke ground today on Airpark 599. Located at the junction of Highway 99, Arch Airport Road, and Interstate 5, the first phase of Airpark 599 will include about 60 acres of underutilized County-owned land and will construct nearly 1.2 million square feet of new industrial space. Once completed, the project will provide much needed jobs, generate new revenue for the County and will increase economic development activity adjacent to Stockton Metropolitan Airport.

"Airpark 599 will provide needed jobs and economic development to San Joaquin County,” stated San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors Chairman Tom Patti. “County staff and our development partner Catellus have worked tirelessly over the past several years to make this happen and we are thrilled to see that our local economy will benefit from that work. I am incredibly pleased to see Airpark 599 move to the next level of development. Despite the unprecedented challenges of the past year, we continue to make progress. Today’s groundbreaking accentuates our economic development strategy and our vision for San Joaquin County."

San Joaquin County Supervisor Miguel Villapudua whose district represents Airpark 599 noted, "Construction of the first large industrial building of Airpark 599 will coincide with the construction of project infrastructure, including new roadways and utility connections. At full build-out, the project will add approximately 3.5 million square feet of industrial space, suitable for e-fulfillment, warehousing and distribution uses, while improving area infrastructure and bringing many new jobs to our large, skilled workforce. This development sits right in the heart of my district, and I know it will be a catalyst for attracting businesses and new well-paying jobs for San Joaquin County residents."

Following the groundbreaking today, the first building will be constructed in a joint venture partnership with Catellus and IDI Logistics, a prominent, nationally recognized industrial owner and developer, to be completed by December 2022, with full build-out anticipated by 2026.

San Joaquin County Administrator, Jay Wilverding, concluded, "Airpark 599 is an exciting project for San Joaquin County that has been many years in the making and today marks an important milestone. To the future tenants of Airpark 599, we welcome you to San Joaquin County where smart investments, innovation and collaboration are driving economic growth and opportunity. We offer an abundance of high-quality affordable homes, excellent schools, exceptional transportation networks, a large workforce, world-class agriculture and wineries, natural resources and recreation which add up to a unique region where companies and their employees can grow and thrive."
