New County Service Center Brings Government Closer to Community
May 18, 2026

A new County hub set to open in Lodi will make services easier to access for North County residents. San Joaquin County purchased the Lodi Christian Life Building located at 322 W. Elm Street next to Lodi City Hall in the heart of downtown. The Recorder-County Clerk will have a satellite office in the building and will be able to provide recordings, passports, and vital records among other services. Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Steve Bestolarides has a vision to see other county departments have a presence in the North County facility.

The center will also provide a space for weddings in one of the most historically significant buildings in Lodi. “This new facility is more than a building. It’s a commitment to helping our community,” said Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Bestolarides, who collaborated with District Four Supervisor Steve Ding to bring the North County Government Center to Lodi. “I am proud to see this vision finally come to fruition and the positive impact it will have on our community.”

“We are bringing government to the people, saving our community time and trouble. Residents will no longer need to take time from their workday to drive to the county building in Stockton for routine government business,” said Supervisor Steve Ding. “Now they can quickly take care of their business and have lunch in downtown Lodi.”

Work is underway to make the building ADA compliant and upgrade the IT infrastructure to accommodate multiple county departments. The building is estimated to be open for business by the 2nd quarter of 2027.
