Board of Supervisors Approves All-Way Stop at Lower Sacramento and Acampo Roads to Improve Safety
August 12, 2025

Stockton, CA - Supervisor Steve Ding announced today that the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors has approved the installation of an all-way stop at the intersection of Lower Sacramento Road and Acampo Road in the 4th District.

“Public safety is always my priority,” Supervisor Ding said. “This change is a common-sense improvement that will reduce collisions and make this intersection safer for everyone who lives in or travels through the area. I want to thank our Public Works team for listening to the community and acting quickly. This road is heavily traveled during harvest season, and some of these accidents happened in the early morning when agricultural workers are on the move. These improvements will help protect lives and support our farming community.”

The decision follows an engineering and traffic survey by the San Joaquin County Department of Public Works, which found that the intersection had experienced five preventable collisions in an 11-month period. The site is currently a two-way stop with Lower Sacramento Road serving as the through highway.

The project will include the installation of stop signs on all four approaches, advance warning signs, and pavement markings. Flags will be placed at the new stop signs for two weeks to alert drivers of the change. Funding for the installation and ongoing maintenance is already included in the 2025–2026 Road Maintenance budget.

Work will begin shortly following notification of the California Highway Patrol and other relevant agencies, with completion expected within weeks.
