Homeowners' Exemption

You may be eligible for an exemption of up to $7,000 off your property’s assessed value, resulting in a property tax savings of approximately $70 annually if you own and occupy your home as your principal place of residence. The full exemption is available if you file by the following February 15th for the year in which you occupy the dwelling.

Aircraft of Historical Significance Exemption

The criteria necessary to qualify for this exemption can be found here. This claim must be filed annually by February 15th to receive the full exemption.

Disabled Veterans' Property Tax Exemption

Disabled veterans of military service may be eligible for up to a $241,627 exemption towards their property assessment. Please refer to the claim form instructions for filing deadlines, as they vary depending upon the event which a claimant is filing.

Welfare Exemption

The welfare exemption is available for some property types if owned and operated by nonprofit religious, hospital, scientific, or charitable entities who are operating for the specific purposes. This claim must be filed annually by February 15th to receive the full exemption.

Church Exemption

The Church Exemption is available for buildings, the land on which they are situated, and equipment used exclusively for religious worship. It is also available for property owned or used by the church for parking. This claim must be filed annually by February 15th to receive the full exemption.

Veterans' Exemption

The Veteran's Exemption allows for an exemption of $4,000 for qualifying claimants. A veteran's exemption claim form must be completed and filed annually by February 15th.

State Property Tax Postponement Program

The State of California Controller’ Office administers the Property Tax Postponement Program, which allows eligible homeowners to postpone payment of current-year property taxes on their primary residence. This program is available for property owners who are at least 62 years of age, blind, or disabled, and also meet certain other criteria.
