The County received an application for the Pacific Gateway development, located on 1,612 acres along South Chrisman Road, approximately one mile north of its intersection with Highway 132 and east of I-580. The proposed mixed-use project includes General Plan Text and Map Amendments, Specific Plan, Zone Map Reclassification, Vesting and Tentative Maps, and Administrative Use Permits (site plans) for development of approximately 27 million sq ft of light industrial building space, along with commercial, private university and VFW meeting hall uses. (See additional project details, below.) An Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is being prepared to evaluate potential environmental impacts from the proposed development. The Draft EIR is expected to be completed and issued in summer 2024, followed by Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors hearings later in 2024 to consider the EIR prior to the Board taking action on the project.
