December 20, 2022 - EMS Office Closures and Limited Staffing

The EMS office will be closed Monday, December 26, 2022, and Monday, January 2, 2023. SJCEMSA will have limited staff the last week of December (12/27/22-12/30/22).  To avoid delays on any actions needed by the EMS agency before the end of December, please submit applications no later than Friday (12/23/2023) at 8 am.  Thank you for your consideration and cooperation.

November 15, 2022 - Local Health Officer Order for Influenza Vaccination

Health Officer Dr. Maggie Park, MD, has issued an order directing all Health Care Workers, including prehospital care personnel, to receive a flu vaccination for the flu season (generally November 1 through April 30th). A typographical error in the page numbers of EMS Policy No. 2570, Paramedic Preceptor Authorization has been fixed. No content has been changed.

August 24, 2022 - New or Updated SJCEMSA Policies Effective September 1, 2022

The SJCEMSA has several new or updated policies effective September 1, 2022. EMS Policy No. 1400, EMS Advisory Committee, EMS Policy No. 2570, Paramedic Preceptor Authorization, EMS Policy No. 5542, BLS Poisoning and Overdose, and EMS Policy No. 6670, Medical Priority Dispatch System Quality Improvement Committee may be viewed on the Policies and Protocols webpage.

August 15, 2022 - Monkeypox Precautions

Monkeypox is a rare disease that is caused by infection with the Monkeypox virus and is currently being monitored by the San Joaquin County Public Health Department. Emergency Medical Personnel are encouraged to maintain universal precautions on all patients and remain diligent on practicing good hand hygiene. July 15, 2022 - National EMS Memorial Bike Ride - West Coast

The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, Inc. honors Emergency Medical Services personnel by organizing and implementing long distance cycling events that memorialize and celebrate the lives of those who serve everyday, those who have become sick or injured while performing their duties, and those who have died in the line of duty. July 5, 2022 - New or Updated SJCEMSA Policies Effective July 1, 2022

The SJCEMSA has several new or updated policies effective July 1, 2022. EMS Policy No. 2910, SJCEMSA Course Instruction Authorization, EMS Policy No. 4981, Receiving Hospital Status, and EMS Policy No. 5109, Patient Refusal or Transport - Against Medical Advice may be viewed on the Policies and Protocols webpage.

July 1, 2022- SJCEMSA Office Closure

July 1, 2022 - Paramedic Preceptor Applications Open

Paramedic Preceptor applications are now open and will be accepted through July 31, 2022. Applications are available on the SJCEMSA Online Application Portal. The application shall be submitted with a letter of recommendation from your ALS employer verifying that you are in good standing with that employer and the employer intends to use you as a Paramedic Preceptor.

June 30, 2022 - Online Application Portal System Maintenance

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency Online Application Portal will not be available from June 30, 2022, at 5pm until July 1, 2022 at 8am due to system maintenance.

June 27, 2022 - Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES) Report for 2021

In 2021, the San Joaquin County EMS System experienced on average eighty-one (81) medical cardiac arrests each month. According to the CARES data, San Joaquin County demonstrates that its EMS system (prehospital, hospital, and specialty care) provides high performance and superior cardiac outcomes. March 31, 2022 - EMS Policy Memorandum No. 2022-03, Transfer of Prehospital Patient Care from ALS Non-transport to BLS Staffed Ambulance

The purpose of this policy memorandum is to clarify that a non-transport paramedic may transfer patient care to an emergency ambulance service provider basic life support (BLS) staffed ambulance emergency medical technician (EMT) when the patient does not require advanced life support (ALS) care as outlined in this memorandum. Paramedic Accreditation Officer applications will be open and accepted from April 1, 2022, through April 30, 2022. Applications are available on the SJCEMSA Online Application Portal. The purpose of this policy memorandum is to temporarily revise EMS Policy No. 5201, Medical Patient Destination by prohibiting the transportation of non-emergent medical patients from the scene of a medical emergency to receiving hospitals located in Sacramento County.
