Hansen Road Temporary Closure Analysis:

In September 2023, an 18-month full closure of Hansen Road at Interstate 205 was implemented at the direction of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors to mitigate cut through truck and commuter traffic and evaluate impacts associated with the diversion of traffic.
Specifically, the evaluation considered whether the full closure of Hansen Road created any significant adverse impacts to neighboring roadways and whether it influenced truck traffic behavior in the community. The evaluation of the temporary closure is complete, and the study can be downloaded at the link below.
Public Works will present these findings to the Board for further discussion at the March 25, 2025 Board of Supervisors meeting.

  • May 22, 2021, the County, the City of Tracy and California Highway Patrol, hosted a community meeting for residents to learn about near-term traffic calming options and long-term transportation plans

  • October 26, 2021, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors directed Public Works staff to complete a traffic study to evaluate the impacts of implementing traffic reduction options on Hansen Road including a one-way street and full closure of Hansen Road near the Interstate 205 overpass. Public Works commissioned GHD to prepare the traffic study. The full study can be downloaded at the link below.
  • July 26, 2022, Public Works presented these findings at the Board of Supervisors meeting.
  • November 8, 2022, Board of Supervisors approves 18-month temporary closure of Hansen Road and implementation of traffic calming measures.
