Richard Price has nearly 30 years of criminal and civil trial experience, bringing a vast wealth of knowledge to the role of Assistant District Attorney in the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office. 

On January 2, 2023, District Attorney Ron Freitas appointed Richard Price as Assistant District Attorney. Assistant District Attorney Price oversees the day-to-day operations of the office and supervises the five Chief Deputy District Attorneys, as well as their respective divisions. He is responsible for ensuring the ethical application of the law and charging decisions on behalf of the Office. He is the liaison to the San Joaquin County Grand Jury and represents the Office on various commissions, task forces, and community outreach events. 

Mr. Price attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. He then attended the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and graduated with his Juris Doctorate in 1994. 

In 1995, Mr. Price joined the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office. He worked his way up the ranks prosecuting mainline felonies, and domestic violence cases, to career criminals, often seeking the "Three Strikes " penalty to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. 

From 2000-2007, Mr. Price joined Charter Davis, LLP, a civil firm in Sacramento, California. He made Partner, and his focus included insurance defense, environmental and construction defect, business and contract tort law, professional negligence, and personal injury. 

Mr. Price returned to the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office in 2007 and utilized his experience to enhance each assignment. In the last decade, his focus has been on vehicular homicides, Officer-Involved Critical Incident protocol investigations, and prosecutions.
