    District Attorney Ron Freitas announced today that a jury found Steven Martinez, 59, of Stockton, guilty of one count of murder (Penal Code section §187), one count of residential burglary (Penal Code section §459), and two special circumstance allegations (Penal Code section §190.2) murder in the commission of a burglary and murder in the commission of torture of Mary Sellars, a 57-year-old resident of Stockton, in February of 2020.

Lopez admitted to violating Penal Code sections 487j (theft of copper wire), 12022.1 (committing a felony while on bail or O/R), 496 (possession of stolen property), and an aggravating factor 4.421(a)(9) (loss of great monetary value).
