Chief Deputy District Attorney Mark Ott attended California State San Bernardino and graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies and Geography. In 2000, he graduated from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. Chief Deputy District Attorney Ott then joined the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office where he served in a myriad of capacities, from Mainline prosecutor to Homicide prosecutor.  

In 2015, Chief Deputy District Attorney Ott joined the Sacramento District Attorney's Office, where he was assigned to Mainline crimes, Career Criminal team, and Major Narcotics, and focused on targeting gang members with firearms and weapon traffickers.  He then returned to the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office in 2023. He now serves as the Homicide and Post-Conviction Review Unit supervisor where he oversees eleven attorneys, six paralegals, and one administrative assistant. Throughout his career, Chief Deputy District Attorney Ott has successfully prosecuted 80 felony trials, of which 26 were homicide cases.
