Crossover Application

This Crossover Application is for Nonpartisan voters. If you are registered as a No Party Preference voter, you are ineligible to vote for a presidential candidate in a primary election unless you request a partisan (party specific) ballot. The following political parties allow a No Party Preference voter to vote in their primaries: American Independent, Democratic, and Libertarian. You may request a ballot to vote in one of these primaries by filling out and submitting this application . Please note: By filling out and submitting this Crossover Application you will get a “crossover” ballot for the party you select for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election, this will allow you to participate for this election ONLY.

Randomized Alphabet Drawing Results

Randomized Alphabet Drawing to determine the order of candidates’ names on the ballot.

In accordance with Elections Code section 13112, our office conducted a random drawing on December 14, 2023, of the letters of the alphabet. This randomized alphabet determines the order of appearance of candidates’ names on the ballot for the upcoming Presidential Primary Election on March 5, 2024, and is an example of fairness and impartiality in elections held in California. Listed below are the official results for the local alphabet drawing.

This randomized alphabet applies to the candidate's name, last name first, followed, if necessary, by first name, then middle name. If more than one candidate's last name begins with the same letter, proceed to the second letter and, if needed, the third, etc. We follow this process until a different letter appears allowing us to determine who appears first on the ballot. For example, if two candidates with the last names Campbell and Carlson are running for the same office, their order on the ballot will depend on the order in which the letters "M" and "R" were drawn in the randomized alphabet drawing.

The following lists contain candidates who have qualified for the office he or she is running for.  One list shows candidates on the ballot, and the other shows candidates not on the ballot.

Note:This List does not contain State or Federal offices. Those offices are qualified by the Secretary of State, Click Here. San Joaquin County will include the following Federal and State contests: President of the United States,United States Senator both Full and Partial/Unexpired Term,United States Representative Districts 9 and 13,State Senate District 5, and State Assembly Member Districts 9 and 13.
