Language Accessibility Advisory Committee (LAAC)

County Level LAAC

The County is not seeking volunteers to serve at this time.
The county level LAAC is an advisory committee to the county elections office. LAAC members serve at the discretion of the County Registrar of Voters (ROV). The mission of the county level LAAC is to advise and assist the ROV with implementation of federal and state laws related to electoral process access - by voters with limited English proficiency (LEP) - so that all persons who vote can understand the voting process.

The county level LAAC is tasked with implementing policy set-forth - on a mission to fulfill the Secretary of State’s goals – in achieving robust language access designed to assist LEP voters with limited English proficiency, and ensure full participation in the electoral process.  This includes activities to support the implementation of federal and state laws related to language accessibility, making recommendations regarding programs and policy, and the review of translated material for accuracy.

Purpose of the LAAC

  • Provide the public a forum to voice concerns and make recommendations on ways to improve the electoral process for voters with limited English proficiency.
  • Allow the public to advise and assist the Registrar of Voters regarding access to the electoral process for voters with limited English proficiency.
  • Discuss agenda topics recommended and set by the Secretary of State, County officials, and the public.
