Ariel Baez Receives 24-Year Sentence for Felony Rape Convictions

San Joaquin District Attorney Ron Freitas is pleased to announce that the Honorable Gus Barrera, sentenced Ariel Baez, 62, of Manteca, to 24 years in state prison. Baez, who entered pleas on October 9, 2023, to two counts of Felony PC 261(a)(2), Rape by Force, both deemed strikes under California’s Three Strikes Law, has waived all credit earned since his incarceration in January 2023. Additionally, Baez is mandated to register as a sex offender for life under PC 290, accompanied by standard orders.

The San Joaquin District Attorney's Office would like to extend its gratitude to Judge Barrera and the dedicated prosecution team and Victim Witness Advocates, for their hard work in bringing justice in this case.“Today’s sentencing of Ariel Baez is a declaration that the justice system in San Joaquin County stands against the heinous crime of rape. District Attorney Ron Freitas stated about the outcome. The 24-year prison term, handed down by Judge Barrera and secured by our dedicated prosecution team, sends an unequivocal message that those who commit such violent acts will face severe consequences. My office is resolute in its pursuit of justice for survivors, and this outcome underscores our collective commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of sexual violence are held accountable in the strongest possible terms."
