Stockton - On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, Richard Fernandez, 36 of Stockton, was arraigned and officially charged with the following: 

• California Penal Code Section 148.10(A): Resisting a Peace Officer resulting in serious bodily injury or death,  

• California Vehicle Code Section 2800.2(A): Evading a Peace Officer with wanton disregard for public safety 

• California Vehicle Code Section 14601.2(A): Driving with a suspended license for drunk driving.   

A San Joaquin County Deputy Sheriff, who was working as part of the County’s Sideshow Suppression Task Force, was seriously injured as a result of a vehicle crash that occurred while pursuing the defendant during this weekend’s operations surrounding a string of sideshows occurring countywide.  Citing public safety concerns, Richard Fernandez is being held without bail.  He returns to court on Tuesday, September 19th.
