Stockton- San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas is pleased to announce Chest of Hope has joined the San Joaquin County Family Justice Center as a partnering agency to expand services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
“It is crucial to provide victims in trauma with key services in one location,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “The San Joaquin County Family Justice Center lowers the barriers for those in crisis and we are incredibly grateful for our co-located partners for their service. We look forward to the partnership with Chest of Hope as we continue to combat familial violence and human trafficking in our community.”
“The Family Justice Center model is successful because of the partnering agencies who are willing to co-locate in one space for victims and survivors,” said San Joaquin County Family Justice Center Program Manager Alexis Wilbur. “Chest of Hope is going to assist in expanding immediate services- like emergency shelter and domestic violence intervention techniques- for those who come through the Family Justice Center doors.”
Chest of Hope, Inc. was founded in 2005 by volunteers who were heavily focused on raising funds in support of orphans and women who had experienced domestic violence. Recognizing the disparity between the increasing number of victims of domestic violence needing support and the limited availability of services locally in the community, in 2012 Chest of Hope, Inc. expanded its efforts to include the provision of education, intervention and support to individuals and families.
As a new partner with the San Joaquin County Family Justice Center, Chest of Hope staff will be on-site at the Downtown Stockton location to provide immediate and wrap-around services to victims.
