Industrial Hemp Cultivation in San Joaquin County

San Joaquin County currently has a moratorium on the issuance of industrial hemp licenses.

On July 7, 2020, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved the Industrial Hemp Cultivation Ordinance that went into effect on August 7, 2020. Please refer to the PDF document for the requirements pertaining to cultivation of Hemp in San Joaquin County.

California's industrial hemp law can be found in Division 24 of the California Food and Agricultural Code (FAC). The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has also adopted regulations in Title 3 of the California Code of Regulations pertaining to registration, approved cultivars, sampling and testing, and destruction of noncompliant hemp crops. San Joaquin County Ordinance No. 4539 requires a license issued by the Agricultural Commissioner for the cultivation of industrial hemp.
