Through pesticide oversight and pest exclusion efforts, San Joaquin County works to protect agriculture, natural resources, and community well-being.

Pesticide Use Enforcement

The Pesticide Use Enforcement (PUE) Program within the San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's Office is responsible for regulating the safe and lawful use of pesticides throughout the county.

Pest Exclusion

Pest Exclusion serves as the first line of defense against the introduction and spread of harmful pests and diseases. Through inspections and enforcement of quarantine regulations, the division safeguards local agriculture.

Pest Detection

San Joaquin County’s Pest Detection Program uses countywide trapping and rapid response to identify and eliminate invasive pests early, protecting agriculture, exports, natural resources, and the local economy.

Pest Management

County Agricultural Commissioners are charged with the responsibility of managing nuisance pests of agriculture and human health.

Nursery

The mission of the Nursery Program is to prevent the introduction and spread of agricultural pests through nursery stock and protect agriculture and the consumer against economic losses resulting from the sale of inferior, defective or pest-infested nursery stock.

Direct Marketing

Direct Marketing gives producers of agricultural products the ability to market directly to the consumer.

Organics

Organic Production integrates cultural, biological, and mechanical practices fostering the cycling of resources, promoting ecological balance and conserving biodiversity.

Apiary Program

Registration is required for every person that owns or possesses an apiary. Each registration is valid until January 1 of the following year. Registration is completed online through BeeWhere.

Industrial Hemp

San Joaquin County currently has a moratorium on the issuance of industrial hemp licenses. On July 7, 2020, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved the Industrial Hemp Cultivation Ordinance that went into effect on August 7, 2020.
