Presently, the state of California operates eight Veterans Homes across the state. The first Veterans' home, Yountville was founded in 1884 to serve the needs of veterans of the Civil War. Today there are eight campuses operating with plans for additional sites in the future. Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify for admission to a CalVet State Veterans Home, you must be a California resident, have served in the U.S. military under honorable conditions (verified by a DD-214), and be age 55 or older. The age requirement is waived for veterans who are homeless or have significant disabilities.
