Thank you for your service to our Nation and for your family’s sacrifice on our Country’s behalf.

We are here to proudly serve the Veterans and Dependents of San Joaquin County.

The San Joaquin County Veterans Service Office is a recognized Veterans Service Organization. Our office is not affiliated with the Department of Veteran Affairs, but we serve as advocates by assisting with benefits through our accredited Veteran Service Organizations.

 

Hours and Services:

Monday – Friday 09:00-16:00 Representatives are available to receive and return your calls.

Monday – Thursday 09:00-16:00 - WALK-IN Services include:

  • Veteran DMV Driver’s License/License Plate certification
  • Intent to File (ITF) documentation
  • Income verification Letters
  • Records Requests
  • California Tuition Fee Waiver Applications
  • Vocational Rehabilitation and Education Applications
  • Local, Veteran Non-Profit Emergency Aid resources
  • Homeless/Housing/Food Resources
  • Flyers for Upcoming Community and Veteran Family events
  • Information on State and Federal Veteran Benefits (not requiring an appt.)
  • Scheduling future 1:1 Benefits Counseling appointments
  • Application for VA Healthcare

Our office provides BENEFITS and CLAIMS Counseling – By appointment Only

An appointment is necessary as we want to give you ample time to collect important documents prior to your visit. We book your appointment for a full hour to ensure you and your family receive the assistance and attention you deserve and have uninterrupted time to ask any questions regarding your claim or process.

We will file an “Intent to File” and schedule an appointment on a Walk-In visit, to set a potential start date (or effective date) for your benefits as you prepare for your visit.

 

All Counseling appointments are conducted by fully Accredited, CALVET State of California Veteran Service Representatives

Monday-Friday 09:00-16:00 – Our office is always available for Homeless Veterans, those experiencing a mental health crisis and recently widowed spouses/partners

Fridays are reserved for intensive case management services. Our drop-off availability is from 09:00-16:30.

What should you bring to your scheduled counseling appointment?

Depending on your needs, essential documents to gather consist of:

  • DD214 – Military discharge
  • Copies of VA letters, Medical/Mental Health records pertaining to your claim
  • Military Service records to support your service locations
  • Military Medical records to support your illness/injury
  • Vital records such as
    • Marriage
    • Death certificate of veteran
    • Name change documentation of veteran
    • Birth certificates of children, etc.
    • Income/liquid assets
    • Medical expenses
