- The governing body of the County continues to set public policy, adopt ordinances and resolutions,
appropriate funds and levy necessary fees, representative the citizens of San Joaquin County in matters
involving the State/Federal governments, land use planning and determine zoning for the
unincorporated area, and continues to work with constituents to resolve problems and issues.

District Attorney's Office

Public Safety is a priority and the Department will continue phone contacts and essential office visits (i.e. Assessments, PSI's, Prop 63, Rules of Probation, initial Pretrial appointments) with clients. Peterson Juvenile Hall and Camp Peterson:
No San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) teachers are on-site. They are sending assignments through the use of Google Classroom and teachers are interacting with students via video tutorials and phone calls. Students enrolled in College remain in on-line education.
In-person visitation has been suspended. Visits between youth and families is occurring through the use of Skype, Face Time and additional free phone calls. If families have no available technology, non-contact visits are afforded.
All programming from outside vendors in the Juvenile Hall and Camp Peterson are suspended. Programming provided by our staff in the Institution remains in effect.

Large group religious services in the facility are suspended. Youth can request a one-on-one, no contact visit, with a religious provider.

All operations are currently running in preparation of the Superior Court resuming normal court operations. The department maintains its normal business hours and is open to the public.
Based on the Superior Court's General Emergency Relief Order, issued March 17, 2020, suspending most of their operations, the department continues to handle adult in-custody arraignments, time-not-waived preliminary hearings, civil mental health hearings, juvenile detention orders, time-not-waived juvenile hearings, dependency detention orders and time-not-waived detention hearings. The department is conducting intake interviews telephonically.
With the court's suspension of most operations, the department has been unable to handle misdemeanor and felony jury trials, all adult, juvenile and dependency calendars and time-waived hearings and all other civil and criminal court appearances.
