San Joaquin County is recruiting for Deputy Director-Veterans Services.
There are an estimated 38,000 veterans residing in San Joaquin County. The Veterans Services Office (VSO) is responsible for assisting veterans, their dependents and survivors in obtaining Federal, State and County benefits.
This leadership position is responsible for managing the Veterans Services Office which is responsible for assisting veterans or their dependents in applying for and receiving benefits for education, health, and welfare. The Office assists veterans in application for and filing of benefit claims, provision of transportation services to the Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital, and also provides consultations, referrals and outreach activities.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills and have relevant management experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of the federal, state, and local benefit programs available to veterans and their dependents. The ideal candidate will value the community of veterans within San Joaquin County and develop relationships with the community organizations serving the County's veterans.
