December 22, 2015 – EMS Office Closed for Christmas and New Years Day Holiday Observance

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will be open during normal business hours during the holiday season, with the exception of Friday, December 25, 2014 and Friday, January 1, 2016, in which the office will be closed.

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency has completed its evaluations of American Medical Response for May 2015 and June 2015 performance under their five-year contract to provide exclusive emergency ambulance service. The MDA agreement establishes accountability for meeting specific standards and provides the EMS Agency with complete access to data and information on MDA's operational, clinical, and administrative performance. New and revised EMS policies which become effective on January 1, 2016, have been posted to the EMS Policies and Procedures page of the EMS Agency's website. December 18, 2015 - 2016 Spring Prehospital Care Symposium

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency is presenting a Spring Prehospital Care Symposium on March 17, 2016; beginning promptly at 9:00 am. (Check-in begins at 8:30 am) at the San Joaquin County Agricultural Center. Click here for additional information.  This course is being offered at no cost, prior registration required. Upon the successful completion, participants will receive a course completion certificate for 3 hours of EMS Continuing Education and/or BRN Contact hours. The EMS Agency is soliciting public comments on proposed new and revised EMS Policies. The draft policies are available for public comment and may be viewed or downloaded from the Draft Policies web page. Please submit your comments or suggestions using the comment forms provided on the Draft Policies web page no later than January 2, 2016. November 16, 2015 - EMS Office Closure

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will be closed Thursday, November 26, 2015, and Friday, November 27, 2015. The office will re-open with normal office hours Monday, November 30, 2015.

November 16, 2015 - PAO and PSR Class Location Changed for November 18 Course

The November 18, 2015, Paramedic Accreditation Orientation (PAO) class and ALS Policy and Skills Review (PSR) class locations have changed. The course location has been moved to the EMS Classroom located at 500 W. Hospital Rd., French Camp, CA 95231. Please contact the EMS office if you have any questions.

October 19, 2015 - Flu Vaccine Mandate Issued by San Joaquin Health Officer

Health Officer Dr. Alvaro Garza, MD, MPH, has issued an order directing all Health Care Workers, including EMS Personnel, to receive a flu vaccination for the flu season (generally November through March). EMS personnel declining to be vaccinated will be required to wear a surgical mask to prevent droplet transmission to patients. Read the order here. October 1, 2015 – EMS Liaison Agenda for meeting on October 8, 2015

The EMS Liaison Committee is scheduled for Thursday, October 08, 2015, at 0900 hours.  The meeting will be held in the Health Plan of San Joaquin, Community Room, 7751 South Manthey Road. French Camp, CA 95231.  Attendees are encouraged to park in the adjacent SJGH parking Lot #1. See link for map.

September 16, 2015 - 2016 Paramedic Preceptor's Conference Schedule

The 2016 Paramedic Preceptor's Conferences are scheduled for Monday, April 11, 2016, and Friday, September 23, 2016, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, in the San Joaquin County EMS Agency Classroom. The conferences are open to current Paramedic Preceptors and offered at no cost. Attending one conference per year is required to maintain a Paramedic Preceptor Authorization. The format is round table discussion and will include the following topics: best practices, evaluation & remediation, communication, roles & responsibilities, and reportable offenses. The moderator will be Adam Dampier. Up to two (2) hours of instructor-based, EMS CE will be offered. CA EMS CE provided by San Joaquin County EMS Agency CEP#39-0001. These Bi-annual conferences are offered to maintain paramedic preceptor authorization. View the information flyer here. Please Note: If your Paramedic Preceptor Authorization expires in 2016, you may attend the conference but it is not mandatory for re-accreditation. September 9, 2015 - PAO and PSR Courses Scheduled for 2016

The 2016 PAO & PSR Course schedule is now posted on the upcoming training & events page.  Both courses meet on the same days and the classes will overlap. September 9, 2015 - AMR Abdominal Trauma Management Training Opportunity

American Medical Response is hosting an Abdominal Trauma Management training course presented by Ahmed Mahmoud, MD, FACS.  This course is open to all BLS and ALS providers within the county. August 5, 2015 - Policy Memo on Spinal Motion Restriction (Stabilization) for Injured Athletes

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency is issuing EMS Policy Memorandum No. 2015-03, Spinal Motion Restriction (Stabilization) for the Injured Athlete, to provide guidance for the application of spinal stabilization techniques for the injured athlete participating in an equipment-laden sport, such as football, hockey or lacrosse. July 31, 2015 - EMS Training Opportunity

July 31, 2015 - Crisis Intervention Training for Emergency Responders Course

San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Services and the National Alliance on Mental Illness are hosting a Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) for Emergency Responders on Friday, August 28, 2015, from 8 am to 5 pm.  It will be held at Tracy City Hall, City Council Chambers, 333 Civic Center Dr., Tracy, CA 95376; See flyer for additional details. The Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) is proposing to add Chapter 1.9 to Division 9, of Title 22. This Chapter of regulations will establish minimum training and standards for certification of off-duty prehospital emergency medical care persons and lay rescuers in the use and administration of the epinephrine auto-injector as authorized by Health and Safety Code Section 1797.197a.  The proposed regulation text, certification application, response to comments received during the 15-day public comment period and comment table are available for review on EMSA's website at http://www.emsa.ca.gov/Public_Comment

San Joaquin County EMS Agency is hosting two National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training courses on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at the San Joaquin County Agricultural Center, 2101 E. April 2, 2015 - Prohibition Against the Use of Unauthorized Ambulance Services

The San Joaquin County Emergency Medical Services Agency (SJCEMSA) has ordered Day-N-Night Medic SAM Transportation Ambulance Service to cease the provision of unauthorized ambulance service in accordance with San Joaquin County Ordinance No. 4231. Any person or organization requesting or arranging the use of a non-permitted ambulance may be subject to civil or criminal penalties. February 12, 2015 - EMS Agency Issues Policy Memorandum on Transfer of Care in the Emergency Department

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency issued EMS Policy Memorandum No. 2015-01, Transfer of Care in the Emergency Department. The purpose of this policy memorandum is to provide direction to receiving hospitals and ambulance providers on the transfer of patient care between prehospital personnel and emergency department staff.  Ambulance Patient Offload Delays (APOD) at receiving hospitals have caused extensive wait times for arriving ambulance patients, while also negatively impacting the availability of ambulances for emergency responses occurring throughout San Joaquin County. It is incumbent on receiving hospitals and ambulance providers to minimize the time required to transfer patient care and return ambulances to service. Receiving hospitals should direct questions to Jamie Nielsen, RN, EMS Trauma Coordinator.

February 12, 2015 - EMS Office Closure

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will be closed Monday, February 16, 2015, the office will re-open with normal office hours Tuesday, February 17, 2015.

February 12, 2015 - American Medical Response Autism Awareness Class

American Medical Response is hosting an Autism Awareness Class on February 16 and 20th, 2015, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The information will be presented by Jesus Zavala from Stockton Police Department & Marianne Sullivan, MSN, RN, and Regional Director of Autism Speaks. February 12, 2015 - 2015 Paramedic Preceptor's Conference Schedule

The 2015 Paramedic Preceptor's Conferences are scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2015, and Monday September 14, 2015, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, in the San Joaquin County EMS Agency Classroom. The conferences are open to current Paramedic Preceptors and offered at no cost. Attending one conference per year is required to maintain a Paramedic Preceptor Authorization. The format is round table discussion and will include the following topics: best practices, evaluation & remediation, communication, roles & responsibilities, and reportable offenses. The moderator will be Adam Dampier. Up to two (2) hours of instructor-based, EMS CE will be offered. CA EMS CE provided by San Joaquin County EMS Agency CEP#39-0001. These Bi-annual conferences are offered to maintain paramedic preceptor authorization. Please Note: If your Paramedic Preceptor Accreditation expires in 2015, you may attend the conference but it is not mandatory for re-accreditation. The AMR contract establishes accountability for meeting specific standards and provides the EMS Agency with complete access to data and information on AMR's operational, clinical, and administrative performance.
