In order to raise awareness and educate students, teachers, counselors, and our community, and to help prevent dating violence, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office offers two prevention programs, entitled The Choice Is Yours
and Love You To Death.
These programs are presented free of charge to the community of San Joaquin County. Additionally, the programs are available as a 2-disc DVD set and have been distributed to all of the school districts of San Joaquin County. This proactive dating violence prevention program has been shared with thousands of students, teachers, counselors, and community members since it was created in 2006. The program is designed to be given in a 55-minute class period. This powerful program contains an actual 911 tape, crime scene and injury photos, defines dating violence, gives warning signs, statistics, explains the cycle of violence, provides tips for a safety plan, and resources for assistance. Each student is given a brochure which is specifically designed to complement this presentation.
This movie, which shows the ultimate risk a person faces when they stay in an abusive relationship, was released in November 2010, is intended as a follow-up to The Choice Is Yours, which discusses the warning signs of abusive relationships.
This movie shares the stories of three mothers who share four things in common:
The movie contains 911 tapes, graphic crime scene and autopsy photos, the stories of the lives of the victims before, and leading up to their final days.
