As the Independence Day celebrations approach, the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office reminds the community of the legal consequences and dangers associated with illegal firework possession and usage. It is illegal to sell, transport, or use fireworks that do not carry the "Safe and Sane" seal, as well as possess or use any fireworks in a community where they are not permitted.

Stockton- Today, San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar, in partnership with California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Stockton Police Chief Stanley McFadden, announced the results of a multi-agency effort — Operation “Hybrid Havoc” — targeting violent street gangs in Stockton. Members of the gangs were allegedly responsible for a series of violent crimes, including at least two homicides, and were identified by the Stockton Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit and the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office Violent Criminal Enterprise Unit as a significant threat to the community. The agencies then requested the assistance of the California Department of Justice.

Today, San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar announced co-defendants Christina Lyn Garner, 42, and Jeremy Wayne Jones, 49, were arraigned on murder charges with a special circumstance alleging the victim, Justin Peoples, was intentionally killed because of his race, color, religion, nationality, or country of origin. It is further alleged that weapons, including a firearm, were used to commit the murder. Defendant Christopher Dimenco, 58, was arraigned on accessory charges.

In 2020, the California Department of Justice and DPR filed a lawsuit alleging that Alpine violated laws prohibiting pesticide drift, endangering the public’s health and safety. Separately, District Attorney Verber Salazar filed a lawsuit against the company, and the two cases were later consolidated. Today’s decision finds in their favor, determining that Alpine failed to apply pesticides in accordance with industry standards.
