In 2019, the San Joaquin County District Attorney's office entered into a partnership with Code for America, as part of our efforts to address Prop 64 cases in a more resource efficient manner. Over the past 3.5 years, we have worked to clear approximately 26,000 records under Proposition 47 with an estimated cost of $2.5 million. With this partnership and the development of the algorithm, we will have the capacity to clear the 51,000 cases, providing 3,000 members of our community with record clearance, as a result of Proposition 64.
Code for America is working out of our Stockton office this week and has offered to provide a demonstration of this technology and the new process.
Members of the community are invited to attend a brief presentation and demonstration of the advanced technology that makes it possible to clear these records at a much faster rate and with significant cost savings to our office. Please join us for an opportunity to learn more about our work in response to these voter-approved ballot measures, and our progress toward clearing records in San Joaquin County.
