People v. Randall Saito

STOCKTON, CA - Today the District Attorney's Office charged Randall Saito with being a fugitive at-large in violation of Penal Code ยง 1551. Saito is wanted for the crime of escape from a facility in Hawaii. Authorities in Hawaii had issued a fugitive warrant for Saito and he was arrested by the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department on November 15th. Hawaii is seeking extradition and our office has pledged full cooperation.

During today's arraignment, Saito was given the option of waiving extradition back to Hawaii, or requesting a future hearing date to prove his identity. Saito chose the latter.

At an identify hearing, our office will use materials sent by Hawaiian authorities to show that Saito is the person they are seeking.

Saito was appointed a public defender. His next court hearing is set for Monday, November 27th . At that hearing, this Office will seek to have an identity hearing set. In the meantime, Saito will remain in the San Joaquin County Jail and classified as a high risk inmate.
