STOCKTON – California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today announced the arrest of 47 individuals; seizure of 35 firearms, and 10 of them were assault rifles; nearly $44,000 in currency; and the seizure of 34 pounds of marijuana, 2 pounds of methamphetamine, and 2 pounds of cocaine as part of a takedown of gang members in Stockton.

STOCKTON, CA - On Tuesday, November 21, 2017, a jury found Freeman Felder, age 35, guilty of 6 felony charges and 2 misdemeanor charges involving domestic violence. Felder was found guilty of felony false imprisonment, inflicting injury in a domestic violence relationship, personally inflicting great bodily injury, making criminal threats, robbery, threatening force due to a witnesses prior cooperation with law enforcement, violating a criminal protective order and misdemeanor child abuse.

STOCKTON, CA - Today the District Attorney's Office charged Randall Saito with being a fugitive at-large in violation of Penal Code § 1551. Saito is wanted for the crime of escape from a facility in Hawaii. Authorities in Hawaii had issued a fugitive warrant for Saito and he was arrested by the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department on November 15th. Hawaii is seeking extradition and our office has pledged full cooperation.

STOCKTON, CA - On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, the District Attorney's Office charged Grubb, 29, with violations of Vehicle Code Section 23152(a), driving under the influence, and Section 23152(b), driving with a blood alcohol level of .08% or higher. There is an ongoing investigation to determine whether there is any link between Grubb's driving and the death of a person in Stockton, CA. The District Attorney's Office has also been in contact with the family of the victim and is providing Victim-Witness services.

People v. William Balser, 59, and Robin Robinson-Balser pled guilty Friday, June 2, 2017, to two counts of Penal Code section 288.5 (continuous sexual abuse of a minor) for molesting his girlfriend's two daughters in the mid 1990's. Balser will be sentenced to 16 years in state prison on July 31, 2017.

STOCKTON, CA - On May 24, 2017, a San Joaquin County Jury found a Stockton woman, Cindy Berry guilty of welfare fraud, grand theft and perjury. Over a 4 year period, the 31 year old defendant collected over thirty thousand dollars in CalFresh benefits (food stamps), while failing to claim the father of her children was living with her and providing a separate income. Deputy District Attorney Kelly McDaniel was the prosecutor on the case.

San Joaquin County has formed an Illegal Fireworks Task Force comprised of local fire and law enforcement agencies in the County. The goals of the task force are to 1) educate the public about the laws relating to illegal fireworks, and 2) to enhance enforcement efforts within the County.
