    The San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office has charged Velasquez, 27, with one count of felony gross vehicular manslaughter (Penal Code section 192(c)(1)) based on a traffic collision that occurred on June 28th, 2017.

  • People v. Dr. Gary Wisner

    People v Gary Wisner. Wisner, 61, a medical doctor, was arraigned today on an indictment alleging 11 counts of section 550 (a) (6) of the California Penal Code, making false or fraudulent claims for payment of a health insurance benefit. Wisner was indicted by a San Joaquin County grand jury on May 30 th . The grand jury indictment will not be publicly available until 10 days after its receipt by the defendant.

  • Governor Brown Grants DA Request to Deny Parole to Adrian Gutierrez

    San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar is pleased to announce that Governor Edmund G. Brown has denied parole to Adrian Gutierrez, reversing an earlier decision by the Board of Parole Hearings. Gutierrez had been granted parole on September 12, 2017 by the Board despite the strong opposition of the District Attorney and the victim's surviving family members. After the Board's decision, Supervising Deputy District Attorney Robert Himelblau immediately petitioned the Governor to reverse the Board's decision.

    On January 30, 2018, in Dept 8-B of Superior Court for San Joaquin County Judge Ronald Northup sentenced Lodi resident HALEY JAYNE CLARE FLEMENS (age 48) to serve two years and eight months in the California State Prison for Women for felony counts of Falsification of Corporate Books (Corporations Code §2255) and CA State Income Tax Evasion (Revenue & Taxation Code §19706).

  • People v. Ernesto Velazquez

    STOCKTON, CA - On Monday, January 22, 2018, Ernesto Velazquez, 42, was sentenced to 187 years to life in prison. Velazquez was convicted for the murder of his girlfriend, Debora Martinez, who he shot and killed in her driveway in broad daylight on January 15, 2016. Following this incident, Velazquez immediately fled the scene, crashed her car, and carjacked an innocent bystander at gunpoint. He then went to the home of a family friend in the stolen vehicle. He proceeded to kidnap her and forced her to drive through Stockton at gunpoint for a few hours. She was ultimately able to jump from the vehicle, escape and call police. Police officers located the defendant the next day, based on anonymous tips. He was found in possession of the murder weapon.

    STOCKTON – California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today announced the arrest of 47 individuals; seizure of 35 firearms, and 10 of them were assault rifles; nearly $44,000 in currency; and the seizure of 34 pounds of marijuana, 2 pounds of methamphetamine, and 2 pounds of cocaine as part of a takedown of gang members in Stockton.

    STOCKTON, CA - On Tuesday, November 21, 2017, a jury found Freeman Felder, age 35, guilty of 6 felony charges and 2 misdemeanor charges involving domestic violence. Felder was found guilty of felony false imprisonment, inflicting injury in a domestic violence relationship, personally inflicting great bodily injury, making criminal threats, robbery, threatening force due to a witnesses prior cooperation with law enforcement, violating a criminal protective order and misdemeanor child abuse.

    STOCKTON, CA - Today the District Attorney's Office charged Randall Saito with being a fugitive at-large in violation of Penal Code § 1551. Saito is wanted for the crime of escape from a facility in Hawaii. Authorities in Hawaii had issued a fugitive warrant for Saito and he was arrested by the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department on November 15th. Hawaii is seeking extradition and our office has pledged full cooperation.
