Chief Deputy District Attorney
Jeff Derman is a Chief Deputy District Attorney supervising the Quality of Life Division. He supervises the attorneys and support staff for the Environmental Protection Unit, Consumer Fraud, Insurance Fraud, Identity Theft and the regional auto theft task force (DRATT), and as of 2019, the Homicide Unit. The Quality of Life Division also tackles cases involving animal cruelty, agricultural crimes, code enforcement, gambling, and proactively seeks to promote education and safety through the Fireworks Task Force.
Mr. Derman joined the District Attorney’s Office in January, 1999. He was appointed to his current position in March, 2019. Previously, he served as the supervising Deputy District Attorney for the office’s Family Crimes Unit, addressing crimes of domestic violence, stalking and elder abuse, and more recently, was the supervising Deputy District Attorney over the Mainline Division. He is a graduate of UC Davis, and received his law degree from the University of Oregon.
