District Attorney's Office Adds Thirteen New Positions to Administration

Stockton - Today, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved the 2021/2022 fiscal budget for the county, including thirteen new positions for the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office.

"We are grateful that the Board of Supervisors fully supports my office's mission to not only ensure public safety and equal justice for all, but also understood the necessity to expand services to victims of family violence and human trafficking," said District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar.

Of the thirteen new positions, the new Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking Response Team will be comprised of two Deputy District Attorneys, two Victim Witness Advocates, and one District Attorney Investigator. This dedicated unit will provide real-time resources to families in crisis, as well as immediate assistance to victims of human trafficking.  Since 2015, the number of Victim Witness Advocates within the administration has tripled, and the Family Justice Center was built on-site. "Victim advocacy and assisting them in their journey to healing is of paramount importance to my administration," said Verber Salazar.

In total, the new positions include three Deputy District Attorneys, two Victim Witness Advocates, two District Attorney Investigators, two Office Assistant Specialists, one Paralegal, one Support Staff, one Office Assistant, and one Stock Clerk.

The San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office would like to thank administration staff members for their diligent work during the budget process, the County Administrators Office- Jay Wilverding and team-, our partners in law enforcement, and the Board of Supervisors- Board Chairman Tom Patti, Supervisor Kathy Miller, Supervisor Miguel Villapudua, Supervisor Robert Rickman, and Supervisor Chuck Winn- for voting to pass the additions to the Law & Justice budget
