Morada Man Convicted of Sex Acts with a Minor
Stockton - Today, San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar announces defendant Kristopher Jones was found guilty of committing sex acts with a minor.
According to authorities, the defendant worked as an after-school program staff member at Davis Elementary in Morada. The victim, now 17 years old, came forward disclosing the abuse that occurred during their 2
grade years. The victim partnered with local law enforcement to contact the defendant and an arrest was made.
Kristopher Jones was found guilty two counts of 288.7(B) engaging in oral copulation with a child under ten and one count of 288 (A) lewd acts with a child under fourteen. All three counts are felonies and the defendant will return before the Honorable Judge Charlotte Orcutt for sentencing on August 2, 2021.
"Protecting our children is of paramount importance, and cases like these only highlight the terrifying reality that child abuse occurs in places and with people who are typically entrusted to protect, and not harm, our children," said San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar. "We encourage any victim of sexual assault to come forward. We are greatly appreciative of the hard-work shown by Deputy District Attorney Theresa Stroud and the Victim-Witness Advocates who handled this case, as well as the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department child abuse investigation team for seeking justice for the victim."
