Small Business Assistance Grant Program

The Small Business Assistance Grant Program is intended to assist businesses and non-profits with between 1 and 50 full-time employees. The maximum grant is limited to the number of full-time employees multiplied by $2,000.

ELIGIBILITY


Please carefully review the eligibility requirements below.

  • For a Small Business Assistance Grant award, applicants must be a small business or non-profit that operates in San Joaquin County with at least one (not counting the owner) and no more than 50 full-time employees. This requirement of having at least one full-time employee, not counting the owner, does not apply to independent health-care providers and health-care clinicians.
  • Applicants must verify the business or non-profit has experienced unfunded expenditures due to COVID-19 by completing the Estimated COVID-19 Economic Injury Worksheet. The unfunded expenditures must have occurred at the applicant’s place of business in San Joaquin County between March 1, 2020 and the date of the grant application. Only COVID-19 related payroll, rent/lease or personal protective equipment expenses qualify. See FAQ Q3 for more details.
  • Applicants must submit a current copy of its W-9 form.
  • Applicants must operate out of a physical commercial storefront, or a residence that is open to the public for normal business operations, within the boundaries of San Joaquin County. The applicant’s operation can be in either an incorporated or unincorporated portion of the County. This requirement does not apply to independent health-care providers and health-care clinicians. Independent health-care providers and health-care clinicians must have a primary residence in the County to qualify.
  • Applicants must have an active Business License in San Joaquin County.
  • Applicants must be in good standing with the County and any associated city within San Joaquin County.
  • Applicants who are involved or have been involved in legal or financial issues may not qualify.
  • Applicants must have been in operation in San Joaquin County for at least one year as of July 1, 2020.
  • The County has partnered with TMC Financing to process applications. Applicants should expect to receive emails from TMC Financing. Be sure to check your SPAM folder if you have not received anything within 5 days of applying.

  3. Grant applications can be downloaded below and filled out.
  4. Complete the Estimated COVID-19 Economic Injury Worksheet and include the required expense documentation with your grant application.
  5. Provide a current copy of W-9.
  6. Provide a current copy of business license.
