The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of San Joaquin County and serves more than 779,000 residents. The Board established County policies, passes local ordinances, approves the budget, sets local tax rates, supports community programs and provides many other essential services.

Board Addresses Disparity in Trash Charges in County Pockets Within the City of Stockton, Moves Forward with SB 1383 Compliance Countywide

Stockton, CA - Yesterday, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors voted to have staff negotiate extended contracts for trash haulers throughout the County, to ensure that it meets its obligations for trash services under Senate Bill (SB) 1383.

Established in 1850, San Joaquin County is composed of 25 departments and agencies that provide a full range of services to more than 779,000 residents. Encompassing an area of 1,426 square miles, including 35 square miles of water and waterways, with seven cities — Escalon, Lathrop, Lodi, Manteca, Ripon, Stockton, and Tracy — San Joaquin County has a long history of providing responsive public service and innovative programs while operating under sound fiscal principles. Working together, an elected Board of Supervisors and County staff strive to represent, and support and protect the individuals, families, businesses, and natural resources that make our County a great place to live, work and play.
