The department consists of 5
employees and has a 2002-03 budget of $299,811.
VISION/MISSION/FUNCTIONS
The San Joaquin Veterans Service Office was established by the Board of
Supervisors in 1944. In an Advocacy Role, the Appointed Veterans
Service Officer shall assist every peace or war-time veteran, and the
dependents of every deceased veteran in presenting and pursuing any claim
the veteran may have against the United States Department of Veterans
Affairs and in establishing the veteran's right to any privilege,
preference, care or compensation provided by the laws of the United States
or the State of California.
Courtesy, respect and
sensitivity will be afforded to every veteran and eligible dependent who
desires to pursue claims for disability, pension, compensation, education,
and medical care, to include death benefits such as burial allowances,
widow's pensions, dependency and indemnity compensation and the dependent
allowances.
