North County Recycling Center & Sanitary Landfill
HistoryNorth County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill is owned and operated by San Joaquin County, and opened for business on November 1, 1991. The closure date for this facility is expected in 2035. Encompassing 320 acres, this site receives an average of 496 tons of waste daily with a permitted quantity of 825 tons. During the year 2004, North County received 178,634 tons of waste. During April 2002, diverted materials totaled 1,601 tons. This record breaking amount surpassed the County-owned Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station's previous high of 1,383 tons diverted during June 2001. Site ImprovementsA new 16-acre module constructed during the summer of 2003 is now operational. Funding of approximately $3.25 million is covered by the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund (Certificates of Participation). Hours

Recycled Paint Program
Recycled paint is available for $ 5.00 per
gallon in 5 gallon buckets only ($25 per bucket) at both Lovelace Materials
Recovery Facility and Transfer Station and North County Recycling Center and
