Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility & Transfer Station

History     
Lovelace materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station is owned and operated by San Joaquin County. The facility was purchased on July 1, 1977 and remodeled during 1994 and 1995.

Lovelace encompasses 15 acres. This site receives an average of 499 tons of waste daily, which is transported to Foothill Sanitary Landfill, on County-owned transfer trucks carrying loads of up to 20 tons per truck. During the year 2004, Lovelace received 179,734 tons of waste.

Hours
Open daily to the general public and commercial customers from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Exceptions: Closed New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Lovelace is located at 2323 East Lovelace Road, Manteca, California. Click here for map and directions.

Acceptable Wastes   
Commercial and household waste; agricultural waste; tires; white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units; small loads of concrete, rocks, gravel, or asphalt; camper shells; cabover campers (remove all thermostats and appliances); camper trailers 25 feet or less in length (remove thermostats and appliances, and bring a Junk Slip from DMV).

Unacceptable Wastes 
Septic tank waste; some types of construction/demolition waste*; toxic materials; dead animals; five-gallon or larger drums; infectious waste; liquid waste; cannery waste; hazardous waste; large logs and tree stumps*; mobile homes; RVs; camper trailers greater than 25 feet in length; burned waste; large loads of concrete, soil, rocks, gravel, or asphalt.

*Items of sufficient weight, mass, hardness or difficulty in processing that may damage facility equipment

Tarping Requirement 
All loads must be
properly tarped, otherwise a double disposal fee will be charged.

Recycled Paint Program

Latex paint is accepted for recycling at San Joaquin County Household Hazardous Waste Consolidation Facility, Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility, and North County Recycling Center at no cost to county residents. Recycled paint is available for sale at $ 5.00 per gallon in 5-gallon buckets only ($25 per bucket) at both Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station and North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill. Call (209) 468-3066 for available colors or ask the Lovelace or North County cashiers.
