| Certain
types of Carpet
and carpet padding are now being recycled at select San Joaquin County
facilities! Recycled carpet that is collected is processed and made
into a variety of products from new carpet to construction swales that keep
contaminants out of the storm water system along with many other products. Below is a list of locations
that
accept carpet and carpet padding materials for recycling. While the
locations listed below recycle carpet and padding, there is a fee for
proper disposal of these materials. Update:
At this time only "cut loop" carpeting and certain types of padding are
being recycled. Closed loop carpets such as berber and some commercial
type carpets cannot be recycled at this time. As the carpet recycling
industry matures, it is expected that these types of carpets will be added
to the recycling list.
